Death metal bands always have the coolest fucken names. Right. Death fucken blistering fucken metal is what this is about in case you didn´t understand that. I could end the review right here. But as you love to read my shit, I won´t.
So ex-Morbid Angel bassist/vocalist, as well as Hate Eternal-bassist/backing-vocalist, Jared Anderson, wants to show us why he left Morbid Angel? Or maybe he just wanted to record a death metal album as the world may need another one? For whatever reason, this is the result. How many times can you describe “brutal fucken death metal” without making it sound the same? 666? Well, then I have some new ones to learn coz to me this is exactly that, “Brutal Fucken Death Metal”. Like alot of other stuff out there.
Did anyone say “compromises”?
‘Compromises‘? In death metal? I think not. This is what death metal sounds like, no more, no less. Fast as a shark (I knew sometime I could get an Accept-reference into a death metal review, fuck I´m so talented) ball-ripping muthafucken death metal. I love the word.
“Death Metal”.
Can I say it again?
“Death Metal“.
There.
I hear elements of Krisiun, Deicide and what-not in Internecine, and while playing this kind of music you can actually have worse influences. I meant old Deicide of course, coz having the newer Deicide as an influence is as smart as Bungy-jumping Unplugged, soon to be aired on MTV. Having the ex-drummer of Malevolent Creation as well as the ex-Nile-drummer playing on the album is a smart move. Both knows how to kick those bassdrums. They pretty much knows how to kick anything on the kit. By the way, Malevolent Creation always sucked. Just had to put that in.
So what do we have here? Death metal. That´s as good as I can describe it really. Sounds like most of the newer death metal bands coming from the States, which necessarily doesn´t mean it´s a bad fucken thing, coz Internecine are good. Far above much of the shit coming out of the USA death metal anus nowadays.
The production is a little bassy in my speakers and not as crispy and clear as one could want, but it sure fits the music. Which is death metal by the way. Jareds’ vocals are not better nor worse than anyone else of the 2nd grade growlers around. Basic death metal-vocals with no personality whatsoever to them. I don´t jump around in joy, thinking about getting a permanent “Jared is God”-sticker on my ass. It´s obvious he can play guitar though he´s made himself a career as a bassist/vocalist.
Booyaa muthafucker, I´m impressed.
If you like your shit fast and brutal with no originality or whatsoever, this is definitely an album for you. Lemme just say this again, Internecine are death metal. And good death metal as well.
Now go and count, how many times did I say “death metal” or “Death Metal” in this review?
7/10.
